AAGEE SIMPSON SELLS HIS NUMBER ONE HIT SONG TO DISCOVERY AT MARIGOT BAY

Back in 1998, Aagee Simpson, Marigot Bay’s own singer and songwriter wrote a song that held the Number One slot for six weeks.  The catchy tune, known as the Marigot Bay Song caught the attention of the developers of the Discovery Hotel developers and now, six years after its first release, it’s about to hit the airwaves all over again.

“I sail into the sunset every day
I’m lonely and I miss Marigot bay…”

“I remember hearing it on the radio four years ago when I came back to St Lucia to see about buying the hotel,” said Judith Verity, PR Director for Discovery.  “It’s one of those songs you can’t get out of your head and I remember thinking what fun it would be to have it as a theme tune for the development.  I didn’t know where to track down the singer but then one day, when I was visiting Marigot, Aagee just walked right up and started singing to me.  I realised he was the man I’d been looking for and that’s where it all started.”

The Discovery developers have now bought the rights to the song from Aagee and plan to use it to promote the spa hotel and marina village they are building in beautiful Marigot Bay.

Said Aagee, “I’m looking forward to singing the song live in front of the Prime Minister at the Discovery Ground Breaking ceremony next week – in fact, I think you’re going to be hearing it a lot in the next year or so!”
