COPING WITH THE DIFFICULT FINANCIAL TIMES!

The current financial crunch will eventually demand life style change for many of us – but does it have to be that way? The answer is NO! A few years ago I began to write about the need for additional sources of income and recommended that my readers consider a second and a third job. While if you were unwilling to take my advice then, I am certain you will consider my recommendation now. There is the likelihood of downsizing in many companies and very few new businesses will be established. It is important to note however that efficient, dedicated workers are always in demand.

I am predicting that by the end of August, 2009, the direction of our economy will be clear. The budget will be behind us and projects will begin to roll out. While there will be some additional money in the system, the injection in projects will do nothing for persons already employed in the public and private sectors. The key is for individuals to assess their worth and position themselves for job changes to ensure their economic survival. Where can opportunities for additional income be found? There are lots of opportunities on the internet and by getting involved with social networking groups. Follow me at www.twitter.com/saintlucian

Don’t be caught lying down. There are several things that you can do to improve your financial circumstance. There should be Business Groups all over the island to bring persons together to share experiences and ideas and invest with each other. I am hoping that the current financial down turn will bring people together. Very few individuals are equipped to deal with the current issues by themselves. Unity is strength. We have to gain strength from each other. Information sharing will be vital. I started a Brainstorming Mastermind Group to share opportunities and provide information. I invite you to visit www.brainstorminggroup.webs.com

The Sanatan Hindu Organisation (St. Lucia) Inc. in association with the National Council of Indian Culture of Trinidad and Tobago and Shri Swami Brahmvairaagy of Kashi, India hosted a three day Ramayana Yagna and Religious Chanting on March 6, 7 & 8 in the compound of S & K Manufacturing. The Sanatan Hindu Organisation membership is drawn from the Guyanese Indian Community but on the weekend Indian Nationals from the mother land and Hindus around the region fellowshipped together. Mr. Ronald Ramjattan is the President of the local organisation. The Honourary Counsel for Guyana to St. Lucia, Mr. Lokesh Singh was in attendance.

Swami challenged his audience to build a Temple as soon as possible so that the community as a whole could worship in a designated building. I am confident that this building will be up within the next eighteen months. It takes a driver to make things happen. The leadership of citizens in all areas of life is necessary. I was fortunate to be a part of the non Hindu audience. I attended two of the three days activity and I took away from that exposure a number of teachings that I feel that I am a part of the culture.

A Swami is a highly spiritual person and do influence the lives of devotees for the better. I asked a question which I will share the answer with you. Can a non Hindu become a Hindu? The answer is NO. You have to be born a Hindu. Swami said he does not approve of conversion but a growing number of persons around the world are followers of the religion. When the temple is fully established I can envisage that a number of St. Lucians will become followers of this great culture.

In the past ten years Swamiji has placed special emphasis on the propagation of Hinduism and humanism in the Caribbean, now it is St. Lucia’s turn. I am convinced that man needs to find inner peace during these difficult times. “This too shall pass” will have greater meaning as you release control and hand over your problems to the higher being. Swami’s intervention couldn’t come at a better time.

Hereunder is my motivational pick of the week.

REMAIN IN THE GAME IF YOU WANT TO WIN
The more you try, the greater your chance of succeeding.
The law of averages is on your side.
Taking a risk is often your first necessary step toward success.
If you don’t take some risks, you won’t get the chance to succeed.
While you are trying, you are winning. Never get discouraged.
Every wrong attempt is another step forward.
People that make no mistakes usually don’t make anything.
Make up your mind not merely to overcome a thousand obstacles, but to win in spite of a thousand defeats.
Your mistakes are stepping stones to success and your installment payments to victory.
You can’t be a winner and be afraid to lose.
