BUSINESS IS DYNAMIC & CHALLENGING!

BUSINESS IS DYNAMIC & CHALLENGING!

I watch the news networks on TV and I am fully convinced that the movers and shakers of today, tomorrow and the future will be very much like those of the past, all ready to accept change without lamenting on the past. They embraced change with a passion and dedicate themselves to rising above situations that call for serious solutions.

St. Lucia is now beginning to heed the warning of the financial hurricane that is on its way. By August the eye is going to be over St. Lucia. The warning has gone out in the media but as usual the citizens are going merrily along, ignoring the fact that the hurricane will change its path. The only difference this time it is a global hurricane and it threatens the entire world. It is only a matter of time.

Since the financial catastrophe shook Wall Street and the Banks in the USA and spread to the other developed nations, it is still to have a serious impact on St. Lucians at least on the surface. Even the few job losses in the tourism sector have not seriously affected economic life in St. Lucia. At least that is the way it appears. Is this a true picture? I don’t think so. The business sector is hurting. Individuals are hurting. One thing is certain is that there is a special breed of individuals who are determined to ride the storm and come out on the other side victorious.

In recent months the French islands of Martinique and Guadeloupe were experiencing labour unrest and the countries were almost falling apart but they survived the impasse but are bruised to a great extent as businesses closed at least to allow a cooling off period. However, our French neighbours have learnt a very important lesson – that closer ties should be forged with their neighbours. The French Trade Mission comprising Entrepreneurs from Martinique and Guadeloupe visited St. Lucia during the period June 8-11. 2009. Executives from twenty two businesses in the manufacturing and services sector participated. The visit commenced with a Conference at the NIC building on Monday, 8/6/09. Day 2, there were B2B business meetings. On day 3 site visits were made to manufacturing companies and real estate developments.

Here is my selected motivational piece of the week:
EMBRACE CHANGE WITH PASSION.
Accept that change will take place.
It is inevitable.
Be secure in the knowledge that you can deal with whatever happens.
To feel secure you must bend your insecurities, and avoid breaking
when things don’t go your way.
You’ll always be secure to the degree that you can accept change.
You actually become secure, not by standing still, but by growing,
moving and being energized.
Your ultimate security is your understanding of this reality.
There is no permanent security on this earth:
there is only opportunity.
Have the courage to bet on your new ideas, to take calculated risks,
and to act on your opportunities.
There is nothing to stop you on the road to success but yourself.
