Update from Ed Harris

Dear Colleagues,

I returned to St. Lucia three weeks ago, a few days after Hurricane Tomas. I hope that you did not experience any major damage to your property and that you and your loved ones are safe.

I had a wonderful stay in Arusha, Tanzania, East Africa where I wrote three books. Two of the books were published by AuthorHouse and will be available to www.authorhouse.com/bookstore and www.amazon.com www.barnesandnoble.com among 25,000 distribution channels globally which will be sensitised about the availability of the books. Please check out the link – Authors Club and Book Store at my website www.stluciasimplybeautiful.com All of my books are expected to be available at the upcoming show.

You are aware of the state of the Cultural Industry in St. Lucia where the plight of our musicians is well known and writers are almost ignored. A question arises – how many local books are included as approved reading for our students within the public school system? This situation occupied my mind during my absence and now that I am back I have decided to do something to highlight the potential of local musicians and writers. I have been fortunate to get the support of Ms. Syreeta Tuche’ Alcee of Divine Connections and together we planned a 4 day Gift and Book Show scheduled for December 14-17, 2010 at the City Hall, Castries, during the hours of 9.00 am to 6.00 pm. Already 13 local published Authors have indicated an interest in participating.

Regarding the Real Estate Industry, I continue to lament the reluctance of persons operating within the industry to come together and share experiences and opportunities. This situation is not unique within the Real Estate Sector, it is a general malaise in our business community. It is time that an effort is made to break away from this situation which divides us. The Realtors Association which is now a duly registered non profit organisation is a starting point for bringing persons in our Industry together.

I am concerned about many developments in the industry but I feel that this is yet another reason for Realtors to get together. Since my return, I have spoken with many Realtors who claim that business is exceptionally slow this year. Hurricane Tomas has created further problems for the economy and will directly affect the real estate sector. There will definitely be a slump in the buying/selling of property and Realtors will have to rely heavily on Foreign Direct Investors. I have been thinking about the future of this sector and I have come up with a new business model that will give collaborating agents an opportunity to attract  FDIs. I am very pleased to announce that ECREDMC is supported by a Web Service company in the USA that will maintain and promote the website, ensuring a global reach. Effective SEO support and back links will ensure the success of the site. You are invited to submit your best deals to be included on www.stluciapropertydeals.com Each Broker will be allowed 5 listings. The website went live 24 hours ago.

Once again, it is great to be back and I hope that some level of normalcy in our country will be returned in the shortest possible time.

It is up to us to create a buzz about our industry, we owe it to ourselves. Help me make it happen for all of us.

Yours Sincerely,

Edward A. Harris
