It is very clear to me that all things are working together for good in spite of the efforts of people everywhere trying desperately to wreak havoc among the peoples of the world. There are rumours of war on every continent. However, when we look deeper there is a mitigating force at work causing a balance in the affairs of men. This is a time to step out in faith, believing that there is a Creator who cares for us.
Last Sunday’s two-hour downpour was a wake-up call not only for residents in the North of the island of Saint Lucia but island-wide. It could have been so much worse. It is time for NO BUILD declaration for certain areas strictly supervised by the Development Control Authority (DCA). The Government may have to look into the possibility of opening up Crown Lands to people who find themselves in such situations. Lives should be protected.
We are fortunate that there was no death as a result of the flash flooding, as revealed by the video footages of the actual disaster. Our Prime Minister launched an investigation immediately and it is expected that Government will take whatever action is necessary to help to alleviate the sufferings of persons who were affected. This situation couldn’t come at a worse time but we are thankful for spared lives.
Welcome to the Golden State! The 2.04 Billion USD Powerball Lottery Jackpot draw was the largest jackpot in world history. It was won by one lucky person with all six numbers who purchased their ticket in the State of California. There were twenty three other winners who matched all five white balls and became instant millionaires. Remember, there is always a next time when the stakes may even be higher. We have to be in it, to win it. It only takes one ticket.
Mr. Elon Musk is now the new owner of Twitter. He has taken control of the company, fired executives and senior personnel, and getting ready to give back President Trump a voice on Twitter for his 2024 campaign. I am looking at Mr. Musk’s management style, especially how he will be dealing with the followers on Twitter. Facebook is experiencing difficult times and the future is uncertain, especially as these two companies respond to pressures from recently established social media platforms like TikTok, BeReal, Truth Social, Supernova, Metaverse, and others.
I always believe in saving the best for last. Last week, I ended my column stating that the House and Senate races in the USA were too close to call. While it is now clear that the Republicans have taken the House with less than a ten seat majority, it is likely to go down to the wire with Georgia finally going to the Democrats, giving them a majority in the Senate. The Democrats have given President Biden bragging rights that will drive serious fears in minds of President Trump and his followers regarding the 2024 presidential run. Many of his supporters have rejected the election deniers in State elections. In the end, it was saving Democracy and Abortion Rights that put the Democrats in the game and allowed them to perform above all expectations.
President Biden is definitely a man of faith and a true believer in Democracy. He did it once again his way, and without any argument, he is now ready to enter the 2024 Presidential Election Race as the Democratic Candidate for President.
The weakness in the selection of candidates to represent voters in constituencies was exposed by President Donald Trump’s selection of candidates whose only qualification was being an Election Denier, claiming that Trump won and Biden lost the 2020 elections. There is a lesson to be learnt from this.
President Trump is about to launch his 2024 campaign next week as he seeks to be the first GOP candidate in the Primary. There will be lots of surprises, but surely President Trump will be challenged for the position of GOP Nominee for President.
