Happy Sunday!
This Live Show is coming to you from Black Bay in the Quarter of Vieux Fort, in St. Lucia!
Let us keep remembering the tagline – Saint Lucia Simply Beautiful & Blessed!
Here is my selected Quote of the week:
“If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten we belong to each other.” Quote by — Mother Teresa
House Keeping:
Hope you have been catching up on the notes of our weekly programme as posted on www.stluciasimplybeautiful.com While there you can take a look at other articles.
Special Observation:
I hasten to share an observation that I made during this pandemic – and that is our people have exhibited a consciousness that is considerate of the poor among us. Everyone is reaching out to help. In the Vieux Fort area, there is a 5-day feeding programme, feeding approximately 50 poor persons per day. I encourage you to participate in such programmes.
The State of the Pandemic in Saint Lucia:
Saint Lucia – Simply Beautiful and Blessed, remains COVID 19 FREE! God is truly blessing us and we should all be grateful. When we look around us, there is so much we should be thankful for. We are truly blessed. Let us always remember to be thankful.
Current Status of the COVID 19 Pandemic in the World:
The world continues to be in a state of uncertainty and anxiety. In the USA, the COVID 19 pandemic is being joined by protests brought about by George Floyd’s deliberate murder by the police in Minneapolis. Sympathy for this dastardly act is now reaching around the world and people of all races are uniting against the curse of racism.
The situation, highlighted by protests is rife to create a surge of the Coronavirus within the next 7 to 14 days. At that time, it will be a deciding factor whether we decide to maintain the COVID 19 protocols or debunk the entire cautionary measures put in place by our governments, and return to live normally. My conclusion is based on thousands of protestors in the streets across the USA and in the capitals of sympathetic countries around the world. There is an anxiety to return to the way we were.
While the protestors are being given full exposure on the Cable networks, Coronavirus reporting has been almost absent. Today is the 13th day of the George Floyd’s protests. There has been no intervention from President Trump to pacify the situation but rather touting his mission accomplished as it relates to the economy – Jobs and the Stock Market.
I am convinced that we don’t see everything on TV. New York is in shambles. There has been looting everywhere, especially in the affluent shopping areas. Brand name jewellery and electronics were much sought after.
In the meantime, Brazil and Mexico are current hot spots of COVID 19. After almost four months of COVID 19, new information continue to surface. The latest being that the virus could be in the air for up to three hours. No one really knows when this will end or if there is yet a surge to come. As in the words of a popular Calypsonian – Hold tight! All we can do is hold tight.
Diaspora:
Our relatives and friends in the Diaspora have not let us down. The lines at the Money Transfer Agencies got longer last week. They are standing with us. I am hopeful that their efforts will continue to be appreciated. I applaud those who care about family, relatives, and friends.
Politics in the Region:
Suriname:
The recount has given the Opposition in Suriname a victory over the incumbent – President Desi Bouterse. We await the swearing-in of a new Government which in no way rules out the possibility of the incumbent heading the new Government. It is all about negotiations.
Guyana:
Finally, the Guyanese people should know the recount results by Wednesday of this week, with a likely swearing-in of the President by the end of the week. Let us pray for an outcome that will be acceptable to the majority of Guyanese.
St. Kitts-Nevis
Our OECS sister State St. Kitts – Nevis has decided to put the incumbent back into office. Hon. Timothy Harris’ party won with a substantial majority. This opportunity is taken to congratulate the Government and people of the twin-island state.
Saint Lucia:
St. Lucia, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines seem to be heading to the polls in 2020. Prime Minister of Saint Lucia – Hon. Allen Chastanet told his party supporters from the outset that it will take ten years to fix the economy, and now, he is seeking a further term.
Our International airport is ready to welcome our first set of guests as hotels are ready to reopen.
Conclusion:
This too shall pass, although we know not when.
Let us continue to pray for and with each other, and may you have a week filled with Miracles! Remember always – To keep the Faith, and recognise that God is in charge!
I look forward to hearing from you.
See you next week – Stay Safe!

Due to technical difficulties, the show was not aired on Facebook Live last Sunday.

Here is my selected Quote of the week:
“If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten we belong to each other.” Quote by — Mother Teresa

[5
52,731,951,447,552,509
