I find myself wanting more time before I submit this article. The Obama camp is under serious pressure as John Mc Cain closes the gap. Most political pundits predict that the VP pick could put Obama back in contention. Although Obama, as I write this article has confirmed he has already made up his mind on a VP, no one is prepared to put the word out there on who is the chosen one. The situation that emerged over the past week has many of us who hoped for the dream team ticket of Barack and Hillary having second thoughts as it doesn’t seem as though Hillary was ever considered for the position. Such is the game of politics. It is not always expediency.

I am just hoping that Obama will step out and hit the ball, get on the offensive and deal with Mc Cain straight up. If President George W. Bush could have been nominated by the Republicans and won two elections with no experience, how come experience is such an issue today? What is the role of Dick Cheney? He hasn’t helped much, apart from getting the war started in Iraq so that those who have heavy investments in corporations producing military supplies and military consultancy firms could make tons of dollars. Elections everywhere are about the Leaders of political parties. Parties win or lose based on the popularity or unpopularity of their leaders.

Every Caribbean citizen should be proud of the achievement of Obama and rally their relatives and friends in the Diaspora community. This is as much our election as it is our relatives and friends residing in the USA. How many of us have made financial contribution to the Obama campaign? It isn’t too late to put your US$25.00 in the pot. I am hoping that there will be several Election night parties in St. Lucia. This is a good time for our top restaurants and bars to put on Election Night events for their candidate and give their patrons a choice. I hope they will be creative and get all election paraphernalia to put on a great show.

This is a great moment in time for people of colour. Exciting times are ahead. It is time for change you and I can believe in. It is time that Cuba to be set free and the Caribbean be remembered as a true ally. Change has got to come and the time is now!!!! It is said that when America sneezes, we in the Caribbean get influenza. It is definitely so in relation to tourism. We have every reason to be involved in the politics of the United States of America and let our voices be heard. Go to www.barackobama.com and let your comments be seen and give Obama a campaign line. To date Obama has run a civil campaign, we need to help him find some knock out punches for Mc Cain and what better place he can turn to other than the Caribbean? We have a few things to teach politicians in the rest of the world. I had the privilege of working alongside the great Dick Morris and we did have some interesting exchanges.

Up to the point of my signing off on this article, the noise is in the corner of Senator Joe Biden for Vice President but other names are also surfacing as the suspense continues. I signed up to receive the email announcing the VP. What will be will be! I wish Senator Obama every success in his bid for the White House

Here is my favourite quote of the week:

FOCUS ON YOUR FUTURE NOT YOUR PAST
Your future is a big adventure.
Prepare for your future don’t live in the past.
Savor your good memories,
use any bad ones as lessons in life.
Carve out a niche for yourself in your imagined future.
Think, feel and see yourself as successful.
To achieve any goal in life, you need to project your end result.
Think of the elation, the satisfaction, the joy you’ll feel.
Carry these ecstatic feelings with you every day
and they’ll bring your desired goals into view.
Sooner or later, you can win if you think you can.
The cards you are dealt in life
are less important than the way you play them.
Everyday you’re offered a new deal and new cards.
Success is in your future if you’re willing to work for it.
Copyright 2008 www.yourdailymotivation.com

Keep the Faith, God is in Charge, Dream Big and Expect Miracles Everyday!!!

Edward Harris
Freelance Journalist, Biblicist, Business & PR Consultant, Realtor, Networker,
Private Sector & CSR Advocate, Motivational Speaker
Email: eaharrisdestiny@gmail.com
Website: http://www.stluciasimplybeautiful.com

August 21, 2008 EDWARD HARRIS AT LARGE!
