THE FINAL DAYS OF 2022!
“At Christmas, all roads lead home.†Marjorie Holmes
To Yahweh be the glory! I am writing this article in a jubilant mood, having just 2 days ago celebrated my penultimate birth date before fulfilling the appointed time biblically that man should live on this earth. I am grateful for the gift of life and the enjoyment of family and dear friends along the way. The journey continues.
I consider it to be a privilege to share my humble opinions with my readers each week, and my being able to navigate through the partisan and religious waters without falling into the trap of being controversial in any way. There are many times, of course, avoiding the temptation to do so. I am happy to state that on several occasions, my predictions and opinions have been positive and on target. My most recent one was that the St. Lucia economy will improve in the first quarter of 2023. With the recent assistance received from the government of the Republic of China on Taiwan, the cash flow of our government will improve, debts will be serviced and capital works and social services will receive a boost.
As we come to the end of the year, it seemed like only yesterday. Many of us have suffered the loss of relatives and dear friends. To those of us who have survived, we are here for a purpose and we should all make every effort to fulfill it. What will be your legacy? Will you depart this life without sharing the knowledge that your Creator has so graciously bestowed upon you? I will not be satisfied spending my final days in an environment where I can help to bring about change and fail to make a meaningful contribution. Consequent to my expressed feeling, I spent the entire year pursuing areas of study that will allow me to create a platform that will give me and other like minded persons, opportunities to tell our stories, using the power of the internet to reach the world. Stay tuned.
My readers have become accustomed to me highlighting developments in the United States of America and I will always oblige. There are so many lessons to be learnt from developments post 2016 elections. With the entry of former President, Donald J. Trump into government, Democracy was placed on trial. So much so that a few weeks ago, he touted suspending the Constitution. Unless there is serious disarray in the Democratic Party, there should be no way the Republican Party could reach the finishing line in the 2024 elections. There will be a lot to be discussed when the final report of the January 6 Committee is published on December 21, 2022. There are also legal battles of the Trump Organisation and the former President, himself in the matter of Classified Documents that were removed from the White House and kept in his possession. There will come a time when his loyal supporters will begin to realise that his political stance will never give the Republicans a chance at returning to office in 2024 or even after.
While on the issue of politics in the U. S. A., it was a joyful moment when Senator Raphael Warnock of Georgia, in his Thank You address to his campaign team and supporters as he uttered the words Glory to God! His faith was validated and the citizens of the State of Georgia are much better off for their decision.
I will be back next week to share with you the things that bothered me in 2022 and my wishes for 2023.
In the meantime, stay safe, spend wisely and get ready to enjoy this Festive Season. Happy Holidays!
