CARIBBEAN MEDIA EXCHANGE LAUNCHES NEW WEBSITE
SCOTCH PLAINS, New Jersey (September 11, 2010) – The Caribbean Media Exchange is launching its new website (www.cmexmedia.org) as part of the lead-up to its symposium on sustainable tourism in the Jamaican capital.
“Our work takes us across many sectors, countries and disciplines so the new website will enhance our cooperation with regional and transnational media, the tourism industry, community groups and government officials,” said Lelei LeLaulu, vice president of the US-based Caribbean Media Exchange.
“Regional stakeholders have kindly notified us of the noticeable improvement in the understanding of the benefits of sustainable tourism but it’s the world’s fastest growing industry and we need tools like the new website to keep our stakeholders abreast of the rapid developments in this field,” added LeLaulu.
Caribbean Media Exchange, a registered charity launched its online presence at – www.cmexmedia.org – a few weeks before journalists, hospitality officials and youth leaders descend on the Jamaican capital of Kingston to explore the theme: “Tourism: Linkages for Growth,” from September 30 to October 4, 2010.
“With this launch, we have raised the bar and redoubled our commitment to organizational transparency by allowing visitors to easily navigate the site and examine all aspects of our charitable organization,” asserted CMEx board member Pete Mansel who directed the design and launch of www.cmexmedia.org.
Over the next few weeks, Mansel explained, CMEx will transfer presentations from earlier symposia to the new site. “For those who are attending and supporting the upcoming meeting, the site is choc-a-bloc with information on the conference agenda, confirmed attendees and other arrangements. We will continue to update the site on a daily basis as new participants and partners join us for the Kingston talks.”
CMEx was launched nine years ago and before it went independent was supported for several years by the international development and humanitarian organization Counterpart International.
Since 2001, CMEx has produced 18 conferences and networking symposia throughout the Caribbean and North America to underscore the value of the region’s largest industry, tourism, in improving the health, education, culture, environment and wealth of Caribbean communities, both at home and abroad, in a sustainable and climate friendly fashion.
The upcoming CMEx meeting is being hosted by the Jamaica Tourist Board and Jamaica’s Ministry of Tourism. CMEx sponsors include: Altamont Court Hotel, Anse Chastanet Resort, Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Barbara Pyle Foundation, Bay Gardens Resorts, Caribbean Business Enterprise Trust, Caribbean Broadcasting Union, Caribbean Tourism Organization, CaribWorldNews, Coco Palm, Community Benefit Development, 4P Group, Jade Mountain, Marketplace Excellence, Mayberry Investments Ltd., michaelD.
