WITH ALL ITS VICISSITUDES, IT IS STILL A WONDERFUL WORLD!!!
When you look at the state of the world today with all its vicissitudes, can you say in the Words of Louis Armstrong – “What a Wonderful World?†Yes, I can, and I hope you share my joy of being alive. Down the road I have the confidence that this world will be a better place than it is today. The watch word is TRANSFORMATION!
Yes we should all be happy to be alive and regardless of our state we need to give thanks and do something to change our circumstance. If there is something called Miracle, then no one should be excluded. And if there is, then I am persuaded that it is revealed by faith and that regardless of your state can receive a Miracle. It is said that once there is life there is hope. Our most important asset is life and it should never be taken for granted.
Many times you get to the point where you are tempted to believe that there is no hope, things can only get worse, taking us down a path of destruction. I often look at the tele – evangelists and listen as they exhort their congregations to seek the Lord and reap the benefits. I love to start my week listening to Evangelists T. D. Jakes and Joel Osteen. After listening to the highly spirited sermon of T. D. Jakes, I follow up with the smooth cool sermon of Joel Osteen. I like the opening joke that Pastor Osteen gives. I consider them to be on the same page as they seek to motivate their respective congregations to step up to the table, take their rightful place and receive their portion of the Blessing that is there for everyone who will reach out. The spoken and unspoken vibe that I get from these great Preachers is that Believers are here to live in the fullness of joy and abundance.
Somehow I have not heard from the several Preachers I listened to on radio and television, anything about their prophetic interpretation of the ravishing hurricanes with devastating floods that unleashed their wrath upon the USA. As I write this article Hurricane Wilma is closing off on many communities in the State of Florida. For the first time the English Storm/Hurricane Alphabet was completely utilized and already the Greek Alphabet is in play with Hurricane Alpha sweeping across the Caribbean. However the Preachers seem to have given up on the end time prophecy as they seem to have come to the realization that we live in a world without end and what is in the future as is even now being experienced in may ways will be transformation. The only constant in today’s world is change. At the world stage, knowledge is increasing and this will lead us to a point where even the world order will change.
Technology has begun to shape the new world order and soon there will be virtual countries and governments so powerful that established Governments will fall in line. Some may ask – how is this possible. Religious groups controlled their congregations around the world without computers, now with technology how much easier it would be for institutions with enormous power to be established. The churches are using technology to get their message out and to have a global congregation that contributes to their financial upkeep.
Our greatest challenge today is to have Faith. For many of us, faith will have to be developed before it can be applied in our lives. The Bible states that Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Therefore, since nothing is absolutely within our control, it is necessary to walk by faith, leaving the rest to our Creator. But this position does not mean that you must be complacent. You must first have faith in yourself that you can fulfill your purpose here on earth. Maybe if you are not sure about your purpose in life, it might be timely to take a few minutes to respond to that challenging question – what is your purpose in life? Whatever answer comes to mind, meditate on it and then commit it to paper, write it down and put it in a place that it could be easily accessed. Go back to that sheet of paper from time to time to check on how well you are fulfilling your mandate.
Everywhere in this wonderful world of ours, people stand by and allow those who are bent on destruction to make their lives miserable. We see the criminals taking over and we allow them, some of us are even beneficiaries of their loot and as a result protect them. How can we end such affairs? The answer may not be simple but we can do better.
Sloganise Crime. There is a slogan which reads “Crime is our Business†I protested from the first day I heard it. Stopping Crime or Fighting Crime is our Business seems better to me. We must be careful what we say especially when we expect others to repeat it, we must be doubly sure that it reflects what we seek to achieve. So with the slogan – Crime is our Business, crime is increased, and we wonder why? Say no to DRUGS! Stop Smoking – Smoking Give Cancer! Drive Carefully – Speed Kills! Each one of those slogans is requesting a specific, positive action. Bill Boards should be mounted everywhere targeting Crime and other social nuisances in our communities.
I am committed to do all I can within my lifetime to make this world a better and it is for this reason I take writing this column so seriously because I believe as ideas are communicated whether original or second hand, to the person who has never heard it before, it could be music to the ear and a life could be transformed. I would like to see so many more persons taking time off to share their thoughts and experiences with the wider world. This is now possible join a web log service known as a BLOG and you could share your ideas freely. I am a member of a Blog that demands of me an article per day.
