Harris At Large on Sunday! Program: #25

Salutation/Introduction:
Hi Folks! Happy Sunday! Happy Jounen Kweyol (Creole Day)! This Facebook Live is coming to you from my home in Black Bay, Vieux Fort, Saint Lucia. I am your Host – Edward Harris.

Prayer:
I am even more driven to prayer at this time:
Almighty and Eternal Father Yahweh, we thy believing children call upon your name, and pray that you will deliver us from these turbulent times. We further pray for our leaders everywhere that they may rule your people in fairness and respect for human dignity. Bless us all. Amen.

Here is my selected Quote for the week:
“Regardless of who you are or what you have been, you can be what you want to be.” – W. Clement Stone.

Housekeeping:
I cannot over emphasise the fact that I post the notes of my programmes at www.stluciasimplybeautiful.com I encourage you to visit this site and get the whole story, along with links to recommended sites. While visiting, you can catch up on over 400 of my articles archived on the site.
We are working aggressively to launch a three part series of E-books, each detailing 100 articles by me. I am thrilled as I go over the headlines. It is amazing, how things were, how they are today, and what they are likely to be in the future.

Anniversary Wishes:
To all those who are celebrating an anniversary or anniversaries this week, I wish you and your loved ones, Happiness with lots of Blessings!

My Thought for the week:
“Whatever life throws at you, it is because you have the ability to conquer all things.” Ed Harris

Update:
Today, we celebrate an interesting milestone. This is our 25th Live Programme. I thank everyone who has been following the programme and encouraging me over the months. It is not easy but I will do my best to continue to share my thoughts and whatever developments I am exposed to along the way – with you.

Around Saint Lucia Today:
St. Lucia Simply Beautiful and Blessed!
What a week it was. The number of cases of COVID 19 has increased from 28 to 52. It is time for action. We are now moving to community spread and cases are being reported from Gros Islet to Saltibus. Schools were closed last week, and later that same week, we learned that schools will be closed for a further two weeks.
It is unfortunate that it is getting to the stage where we may have to monitor the movement of our people. When you see a person who is not known in the area, you may well have to report it. Families will always be families and we are likely to do our best to protect each other regardless of the consequences, but COVID 19 has to be the exception. It is a case of life or death.
My recommendation is that the government should call on the residents to limit their exposure to each other by only going on to the streets when absolutely necessary. Working from home should be encouraged. We must find a way of limiting the number of persons on the streets.
In the meantime, let us keep the protocols ever before us, remembering always to wash your hands, wear mask and maintain social distancing. These protocols are working for us, don’t take things for granted, we must be on our guard. Let us continue to keep St. Lucia COVID 19 Death Free.

Developments in the other CARICOM States:
The region’s airlines will be back in the skies during the first week of November, 2020. Caribbean Airlines will be back. Thanks to the Government of Trinidad & Tobago. Liat will also be back in a limited way. My advice to travellers is simple, only travel when absolutely necessary. We have lots of time to visit relatives and friends. A few of us are now comfortable using Zoom; only two days ago, I attended a funeral service of a friend’s sister which was held in Guyana via Zoom. The female preacher was on fire. Technology has brought us closer together; we are now in touch with each other in real-time.

Developments in the U.S.A.
What a week it was. President Trump recovered and looked even better than before he was struck with the virus. He maintained a hectic schedule on the campaign trail and rather than shielding his supporters from the virus, he further exposed them. Over the next nine days, he will further expose them. Does the health of others matter? What manner of man is he?
The second debate between President Trump and VP Biden was somewhat disappointing with President Trump being short on substantive issues, only maligning the Biden family. VP Biden held his own and concluded on a high note. It is all about the character of the man. The Democrats are well on their way to winning this election but many fear that for the first time the elections in the USA will not be free and fair. This week, Justice Amy Coney Barrett will definitely be elected and it will be smooth sailing for President Trump to achieve his wishes with landmark matters that are currently pending in the Supreme Court. Only time will tell. It wouldn’t be long my friends.

Staying Alive Financially:
The news is not good as it relates to the COVID 19 Pandemic. Europe is having challenges, while the USA is ahead of the world with daily cases and hospitalisation. This is the result of leaders putting the economy ahead of the health of their people. Health is Wealth, when the nation is well, all is well. We are heading for a possible lockdown in the future. No nation can afford to be divided at this time. It is not a good feeling for those of us who live from paycheck to paycheck. With no paycheck in sight, and government support has dried up, at least for us in the underdeveloped and developing world – what’s next. How long can we continue like this?
All I can say is – when the going is rough, the rough gets going. The answer to our problems is getting together and sharing experiences and ideas; select investment options that will bring us financial relief. It is not looking nice, primarily because no one knows when this pandemic will end. In spite of the current uncertainties, we are not without hope. However, we must be united in our efforts to find solutions to our problems, especially our financial problems. You can join Castries Real Estate Referral Meetup Group and learn about the real estate industry. The group will be hosting a Virtual Networking Meeting on Wednesday, 28th October, 2020 on Zoom at 6.30 pm. You are invited. You are invited to visit our website.

Conclusion:
