MAKE USE OF THE BUSINESS CARDS IN YOUR POSSESSION!

How many times have you attended meetings, conferences, workshops, seminars and social gatherings, and requested a business card from everyone you shook hands with and did nothing with the cards you collected? Sometimes the cards never got to your office as they ended up in the garbage at home. That is just not fair. We should do better. I am guilty of not visiting websites. I made a decision to go back to the hundreds of cards I have in my possession and do something about sorting them out by country and then build a data base and email list so that I can readily gain access to persons in my data base. Let us make a commitment to visit the website indicated on every business card we receive – beginning today.

I have been looking into the online marketing business for several years now and have decided that selling information on the internet is the way to go for Entrepreneurs in these small island states. The importance of Information Technology cannot be over emphasized as most businesses rely on the internet for research, surfing websites, communicating via VOIP and utilising emails. The internet platform will continue to produce millionaires and it is time that the Caribbean begin to produce a few.

We have some of the best web developers available to us. However, there is a challenge for many persons operating in the industry to clean up their act as far as reliability is concerned. Many IT professionals take on too many contracts at the same time.

There are some very interesting Websites that were produced locally. I believe the time has come for the Developers to be recognized with a “Website of the Year Competition”. That recognition should also be extended to Print, Radio and TV Advertising.

A website is a promotional tool for many business persons who attempt to reach their target audience/s. Business persons can get ideas from viewing the websites of other businesses. A website should be constantly updated so as to give reason to return often. There is a very interesting website that is being promoted by a young lady who is about to make a difference in the area of internet marketing – www.divineconnections.com There are still many niches that are wide open for other young persons with vision to get involve in.

In recent months, I looked at developments within the various first world economies and here in St. Lucia as they unfolded. I must confess that the situation has played out exactly as I projected. The question is – are you feeling the feeling??? Are you seeing the glass half full or half empty??? Are you optimistic about the future or you are sunk in pessimism??? I continue to hold fast to the saying that “this too shall pass”. When the cloud of uncertainty is passed – where will you be? It is my hope that many of us will be found as citizens of the global village, engaged in new age internet related businesses.

Moving forward, you have to stay close to your Associations and Mastermind Groups. It is one of your few sources of assistance in these difficult times. There is much to be gained by staying in touch with like minded persons. Get together for business discussions, get together socially, you will be better for it. There is also that very important spiritual dimension, in times of crisis everyone needs a shoulder to lean on. However in recent times, I find many people are moving away from their faith and openly denouncing God. Everyone has a choice to make. I am not ashamed of the Gospel and proclaimed my status as a Biblicist many years ago. There are biblical principles to guide every aspect of our lives. There are many instances of specific reference to business/trading.

In today’s world it is necessary to be your brother’s keeper. It is all about sharing and caring. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. It is about empathy. This world will be a better place if in our dealing with others we seek to be fair and balanced.

In parting, I encourage you to get excited about the internet and put it to work for you!
