I MADE A DISCOVERY – I CAN’T KEEP IT A SECRET!

I MADE A DISCOVERY – I CAN’T KEEP IT A SECRET!Â
In writing my book “You can be a Successful Business Personâ€, soon to be released, a very important realization hit me straight to the heart – success in business is directly related to how the Entrepreneur applies GREED. This was a revelation which I am compelled to share with you. We were brought up to believe that greed is a bad word and it is associated with covetousness.Â
Like a thunder bolt it struck me that success is based on an element of greed and as usual I picked up my dictionary and checked the variations of the meaning of this vitally important word in achieving success in business. My MacMillan English Dictionary defines GREED as a strong wish to have more money, things or power than you need. Could the average person ever have more money than is needed in today’s world? We must revisit the meanings of words and how we apply them. Today, I am pleased to introduce you to the term – ETHICAL GREED! Ethical Greed is applying greed – wanting more, but not at the expense of others. Â
When you apply Ethical Greed, you will achieve excellence in your business dealings and develop your own standards of efficiency. You must ensure that you do everything to win at what you do. Business is based on certain principles that must be observed. It can be disastrous to take short cuts.
A business person must be inquisitive, always finding out what is developing in the market place and always strive to be ahead, expand within your category and be on the lookout for new products and services.Â
One of the two persons who volunteered to critique my book asked me to remove the statement on greed from the book. Because of my deep resolve about the relationship of greed to business success I refused to oblige. We must think outside the box. In so doing we will be innovative and create our own space.Â
The reason why there are not many more millionaires in our midst is simply because we fail to challenge the status quo, or should I say we are afraid to rock the boat of traditional thinking. There are too many satisfied people in our midst who refuse to step out of their comfort zone. There is a lot of talk about changing the mind set of our people. People will only change their mind set when they challenge their thinking on the state of their lives. Many of us ponder much too long on things. By the time we are ready to make the move, the idea is outdated. You have an idea of doing something – JUST DO IT!Â
Almost twenty five years ago, I wrote my first manuscript entitled – “Fundamental Bible Truths you need to knowâ€. It was accepted by Carlton Press for publication but I self published it in an abridged version. Since that time I latched on to the thought of becoming a published author. Today when I see my book on Barnes and Noble and Amazon, and imagine the 25,000 distribution outlets that were made aware of my first book, I can’t wait for my second book to hit the shelves and mailing lists. In my writing business and my other businesses, I am applying ethical greed ever since I rediscovered the word GREED.Â
I was blessed with the opportunity of being in the audience that celebrated the life of Mr. Stanley French at the Cultural Centre last Wednesday evening. I am certain that many of us were challenged to do more with the life God has given us. The tributes detailed the life of great man that was well lived. He has left behind a rich legacy. He will definitely be missed. May he rest in peace.Â
We continue to grapple with the lingering effects of the devastation caused by Hurricane Tomas. Essential services are back but the challenge is to get those persons whose properties were damaged and totally destroyed back to some degree of normalcy. It is heartening to note the assistance promised and we can only hope that the agencies will deliver as promised given the state of disasters around the world and in our own region. We must recognize all those who are actively participating in the recovery efforts for a job well done.Â
Keep the Faith, God is in Charge, Dream Big and expect Daily Miracles!Â
