WHAT’S ON YOUR MIND?
I may well follow some important people who boast that they no longer watch news on television, especially the news networks. It is all bad news these days and if you are among those persons who proudly state that with the introduction of cable television they have the world at their feet, you may be having difficulty to face the new day most times.
Life isn’t easy these days and it is even more difficult for persons who have to meet a payroll. It is bad news and what makes it even worse is that there seems as though there is nowhere to turn. However, that is if you continue to look down the path that has been travelled over and over and leads to nowhere. We must now explore new pathways and find our pot of gold. The old gold fields have all been worked out, there is nothing left. New discoveries will bring new fortunes and new hope.
As I write this article, a number of things keep coming up in my mind. How can things be changed from doom and gloom to prosperity so we can start living again? I am thinking about the way it used to be, a time when we were full of hope, seldom a thought of despair. What can be done to bring back the good times which were not so long ago.
So much has happened in the past decade, many persons have experienced the best and worst of times. It makes the person with no vision of a brighter tomorrow feel hopeless, even to the point that some people feel that the world has stopped moving on its axis. I refuse to accept that the world is at a standstill. I have never been as busy as I am at the moment in spite of the difficult times. I am working as hard as I can to put a team together or should I say building an army. I know that we can all enjoy a better life. What is keeping us back? It is all about our mind set. Selfishness is eating away at the opportunities that are around even now but the minds of many individuals have forced them to deny themselves. Open up to new ideas. Some people believe if it is not broken – don’t fix it. You don’t have to wait until it is broken to undertake a performance check. Try something new. What about looking at ways of improvement?
National Dialogue on matters of economic survival is absolutely necessary at this time. There should be Community Empowerment Meetings island wide including every nook and cranny. In the current global economic environment, people are losing hope fast. No government can afford a hopeless society. It is very important that some time is spent in providing opportunities for ideas to compete and as a result despair will give way to hope.
I will be first to admit that all is not lost, there is still hope in spite of the wars that are ongoing and rumours of wars yet to come. Scandals and financial fallouts and all other world crisis are everywhere, especially as we stand aside and watch the great United States of America grapple with its share of financial crisis which demands raising the debt ceiling and compounded by high unemployment of over nine percent. Sixty three percent of the persons polled in a recent survey felt that America is on the wrong path in dealing with the economy.
I am convinced that solutions will be found for all the problems that confront the world. This is a correction period; a time for leaders to stand up and take stock of how they manage the affairs of the people. Give the people a stake in what is happening when it is good and when it is bad. It is time that an OPINION BANK is established to tap into the ideas of the people who in the final analysis are the beneficiaries of whatever the outcome – prosperity or suffering.
So what’s on your mind? Do you see the cup half full or half empty? Think positively and you can make this world a better place. It depends on you.
