“You own everything that happened to you. Tell your stories. If people wanted you to write warmly about them, they should’ve behaved better.” ― Anne Lamott

This has been an extremely busy week for newsrooms around the world, especially in the United States of America. It all began with the 7.8 magnitude deadly earthquake in Turkey and Syria on Monday, 6th February, 2023. The death toll is rising quickly with over 19,000 recorded by the 4th day.  The conflicts in the areas will definitely be a challenge to international aid donors.

Congress has mounted an investigation into the Chinese surveillance balloon which was shot down by a fighter jet over the sea, off the coast of South Carolina. The relationships between China and the USA are anything but cordial at this time. However, in the mutual interest of the two parties, the matter has to be resolved in the shortest possible time.

An interesting development has surfaced where Google is attempting to respond to the global buzz that Open AI has created with its ChatGPT with support from Microsoft and other investors. It is also interesting to note that Open AI was founded by Elon Musk and Sam Altman in 2015. The public testing phase began in November of 2022. Google will roll out its chatbot named Bard in the coming weeks. I have been trying for days to experience the ChatGPT service, and every time getting a filled capacity response. I am concerned about the disruption that this new system will bring to education, journalism, business, etc. Authenticity in various areas of life will be threatened. This Chatbot system will be a game changer. The world will never be the same. The Chinese tech giant Baidu is just behind getting ready to launch its AI Chatbot, EMIE Bot in English around March of this year. Let the show begin.

On Tuesday, 7th February, 2023 President Joseph Biden presented his State of the Union Address to the citizens of the United States of America, and the rest of the world. It was a great night for the Democrats and a bad night for the Republicans who denigrated the importance of the occasion. President Biden’s detractors who are insisting that he needs to be replaced by a younger person as the Democratic Presidential Candidate for the 2024 Presidential Elections came in for a shock. President Biden gave a stellar presentation of his achievements and plans for a better United States of America in the future. In spite of the stormy sessions that are anticipated in Congress along with the Republicans’ desire to drag President Biden in front of a Special Committee to investigate the finding of classified documents at his home or his son’s involvement with China. It is my opinion that those hearings if they ever occur will be mere distractions as a means of slowing down the progress that will be to President Biden’s credit. President Biden should be afforded the opportunity to finish the job. America is on a path to progress that has not been seen in decades.

It is not a question of whether President Biden will be nominated as the Democratic Presidential Candidate for 2024; it is for him to refuse the nomination. At this moment, if elections are called tomorrow, President Biden will be a clear winner, bringing along the House and Senate with him. In the meantime, it may be opportune for the Democrats to clearly identify a successor, maybe it is the Vice President.

Are you ready for Super Bowl 2023! This year’s Super Bowl will see the participation of other branded alcohol advertising which was absent for 33 years as Anheuser-Busch relinquished its exclusive rights on its brands like Budweiser, etc. Last year, it was FTX, the CRYPTO KING that dominated the TV Screen with advertising and subsequently on November 11, 2022 filed for bankruptcy. I wish your team success at the game. I will be watching.

With all that is going on in our world today, there is hope for all in spite of the current state of war, rumours of war, natural disasters, and destructive forces in our midst.

Let us commit to contributing to peace and progress in our world. Stay safe, stay healthy, and be blessed.
