SAINT LUCIA – WHERE THE FUN NEVER STOPS!
Saint Lucia is really a fun country. There is always an event to look forward to. There is never a dull moment. This is the Saint Lucia everyone will like to be a part of. Most importantly, in recent years most major activities/events have been shared with many communities around the island.
I am not a cricket fan but whenever I get a ticket for a box I am always willing to spend some time with the boys. I am glad I attended last Sunday’s game. In an effort to beat the traffic I must admit I enjoyed the best of the cricket listening to the radio on my way back to Vieux Fort. It was cricket with a difference last Sunday at Beausejour Cricket Ground but the overall achievement of the West Indies team still leaves much to be desired.
We cannot continue to make excuses for the West Indies team. I am tired of hearing that. Although I am not a cricket fan like most of my friends, I am a proud West Indian. I like winning. It is time for them to win, and win consistently. It is time for abundance in the West Indies team. What are their competitors doing that they are not? Do they have the least dicipline among competing teams? I recall sometime in the past, Dr. Basil Springer offered to help the team to boost their morale. It is interesting to note that the USA Olympic Team was greatly assisted by Dr. Denis Waitley. It is about time the West Indies Cricket Board seeks the help of a Motivational Coach. I feel the fans are too soft on their team, unwilling to tell them like it is. The truth is that they can do better. I am watching.
Vieux Fort is swinging. Although events may not be as spectacular as those in the North, Vieu Fort is holding its own. I am pleased to see that promoters of events are stepping up and quality entertainment is being offered to patrons. It is getting better all the time and the old saying that Vieux Fort has nothing to offer in the area of entertainment is fast becoming a saying of the past.
This Saturday I have a choice to make between attending the Fashion of the Year Competition – Caribbean Collection Fashion Show at the Sandals Grande in Gros Islet and the Rotary Club of St. Lucia South, 37th Chartered Anniversary Dinner at Kimatrai in Vieux Fort. I will leave you to guess where I will be.
On Sunday, April 1, 2012 Mr. Peter Josie will be hosting a Book Reading and Signing event at the Kimatrai Hotel Vieux Fort at 4.00pm. The public is invited. His recently published book SHATTERED DREAMS was first launched on the 12th February, 2012 at the Bay Gardens Hotel Conference Centre in Rodney Bay. It was a very impressive event and well attended. On this occasion, he will be sharing his experiences as contained in his  book with family, friends and well wishers in the community of his birth – Vieux Fort.
It is all about choices and you are in control. Let the good times roll. Soon it will be Easter, then Jazz, after Jazz it is going to be Carnival and in between a lot of entertainment fillers. St. Lucia is definitely the fun capital of the OECS, and soon will be one of the major fun destinations in the region.
