Harris At Large on Sunday!
Program: #8
Salutation/Introduction:
Hello Folks!
Happy Father’s Day to all you wonderful Fathers out there!
This Facebook Live Show is coming to you from Vigie, in the Quarter of Castries, in St. Lucia with a view of the Sir George Charles Airport and the Caribbean Sea.
Here is my selected Quote for today:
Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. Today’s Quote
It is always a pleasure to be in Castries, meet up with old friends, and share past memories.
The notes of the weekly programme are posted on my archive at www.stluciasimplybeautiful.com While visiting you can catch up on my over 400 articles archived on the site.
The State of the Pandemic in Saint Lucia:
Saint Lucia – Simply Beautiful and Blessed, remains COVID 19 FREE!
Because of the effective handling of the pandemic, we are able to go about our business with greater confidence; however, adhering at all times to the protocols of wearing masks, washing hands and maintaining social distance. I suggest that we be ever mindful of the presence of COVID 19 and that we do not drop our guards.
During the past week, employees in the Cruise industry have returned home. This must be relieving to them and their families.
Current Status of the COVID 19 the USA:
The world continues to be in a state of uncertainty and anxiety. In the USA, the COVID 19 pandemic continues to be a major concern as citizens are no longer maintaining the protocols due to their involvement in the several protests, and only yesterday political gathering expected to be around 19,000 persons with no regard for the established protocols, a situation which is of no interest to the President who believes the whole thing is a hoax, even though he has invested a substantial amounts of the country’s funds in finding a new virus vaccine, protective clothing for front line staff, etc.
These mixed signals do not help the cause as in times like these, the world needs strong leadership, especially coming from the USA.
Black Lives Matter
What started in the USA has now reached many capitals of the world. The movement has gained the acceptance of all races and for the first time, real change is possible. All hands are on deck, the private sector leaders are taking some strong initiatives to level the playing field. Even prominent Black Americans are speaking out.
The timing of all the Racial Protests and the reactions from community and business leaders are very encouraging. There is hope for social change for the suppressed peoples everywhere.
A change has got to come.
Politics in Guyana:
Like the pandemic, where no one knows when it will end, no one knows when the elections in Guyana will be declared. Last week, we taught we would have had a government by weekend but instead we saw a situation where the principal stakeholders were back in court.
Conclusion:
Let us continue to enjoy this special day for Fathers as we celebrate with friends and family.
The citizens of the world are becoming restless. However, this too shall pass, although we know not when.
Let us continue to pray for and with each other, and may you have a week filled with Miracles! Remember always – To keep the Faith, and recognise that God is in charge!
I look forward to hearing from you.
See you next week – Stay Safe!
