NET WORK MARKETING – THE LAST HOPE FOR THE LITTLE GUY!!!
In my last article I promised you two business opportunities that would put anyone looking for financial independence on the road to fulfilling their dream. Last week I introduced you to the Real Estate industry which takes a reasonable amount of money, even getting a mortgage loan to be involved.
This week it is my pleasure to introduce you to Multi Level Marketing – MLM/Network Marketing. This a business that regardless of your age, education, gender, sexual preference, past successes or failures, with a small investment, many times it could be much less than the cost of dinner for two in a decent restaurant, an individual can get into their own business and achieve financial and time freedom in as little as 3 to 4 years. If you start part time, most people go full time in the second year.
It is time we get it right in the Caribbean as it relates to the MLM/Networking Industry. It is BIG BUSINESS. It is currently a multi billion dollar industry, poised to be a trillion dollar business in the next five years. Would you like to be a part of such an industry? This is your opportunity to ride the wave of the next big thing – the Wellness Industry in which MLM/Network Marketing is the driver.
I also feel that it is time that our Caribbean Entrepreneurs look at MLM as a business model and get in on the act and, get our products distributed across the world via the MLM system. It costs about US$50,000.00 to set up such a company.
Rod Cook, owner of www.mlmwatchdog.com and founder of Distributors Rights Association in the USA, www.mlm-dra.com is a strong advocate for the Multilevel / Network Marketing business model and he passionately stated that “MLM is Good – the last hope for the “little” guyâ€.
Unlike many persons who have been a part of this industry and have given up along the way or never got started after buying their Kit, I refuse to be distracted in spite of the several failed attempts and outright let down from my support up-line. In climbing a mountain, there are three types of climbers. 1. Quitters who get to the bottom of the mountain and fail to go any further. 2. Then they are Campers, who get to a certain point in the climb and decide to stop, camp and turn around. 3. Climbers, who in spite of the challenges make it to the top and celebrate. After being exposed to a counseling session with Dr. Paul Stoltz, I am fully convinced that to succeed in Network Marketing you have to be able to deal with adversity, you must be a Climber. While Amway now Quixtar (www.quixtar.com) may not be the oldest network marketing company, it has done a lot to ensure the survival of the industry in the days when traditional marketing companies did everything in their power to prevent MLM from going forward. The smear campaigns and scrutiny that MLM companies were exposed to, were terrible. The accusation of being PYRAMIDS was unbearable but knowing the foundation, the power of MLM, the leaders of the day persevered and today MLM is a multi-billion dollar industry with products that include Cosmetics, Telecommunication, Legal Services, Cook Ware, Herbal and Nutritional Products, Candles, Travel, etc, etc. There are thousands of MLM companies in the world. One in ten companies go busted in the first year but there are hundreds of successful companies and Amway/Quixtar remains the most successful company, out performing it nearest rival four to one in the billions. However this company carries the widest range with thousands of products and millions of distributors around the world. It is a company that the world loves to hate but it continues to ride the wave of success.
There was and continues to be many disappointed entrants into the industry even in the best of companies. The key is in the selection of a company that is right for you. Don’t be pressured by anyone. Be aware of those who make promises and say you have to do nothing but buy products. If you only buy products you will never make any money. You must be able to recommend, invite and enroll. No business can survive with sales. MLM is simple but not easy. You must be able to deal with ridicule and rejections.
I am firmly convinced that MLM has a place in the Caribbean and a wider world. I believe that MLM could ease our unemployment situation and put a few hundred persons in business for themselves. With the use of the Internet, from a quiet corner of your home, you can operate a global business. The MLM industry is now both hands off and hands on. It all boils down to finding a company that you are comfortable with. Make an informed decision, research the company. If it has no history, revert to the point I made 9 out of every 10 MLM companies fail in the first year. If you join a start up company you must be prepared for the bad news. Risks reward beyond expectations but what if it doesn’t succeed? If it can happen it will, is a true statement. If you take a chance and you fall do not hesitate to get back on your feet and go after your prize again. This business is for climbers not quitters nor campers. And remember if it is too good to be true, it may well be.
If you wish to be in business for yourself, you must take risks but it is necessary not to do things for the sake of doing them, following the crowd. If you can’t see and or feel it, don’t do it, don’t walk in the dark. Business is not by faith, it is by sight, especially when you have to sign on the dotted line. Be sure that you read your contract, what does it say? Can you sell your stake in the MLM company or bequeath it to your family? Do you understand the compensation plan? Why buying a fast start kit is better than just joining with an enrolment fee and working your way up?
