Salutation/Introduction:
Hi Folks! Happy Sunday! This Facebook Live is coming to you from Black Bay, Vieux Fort, Saint Lucia. I am your Host – Edward Harris.
Prayer:
Thank you Father Yahweh for taking care of your children in every way possible and we are confident that whatever comes our way, you are able to deliver us. Bless us all. Amen.
Here is my selected Quote for the week:
Politics is almost as exciting as war, and quite as dangerous. In war you can only be killed once, but in politics many times. Winston Churchill

COVID 19 Update:
There is no doubt that the world is now witnessing a second wave of the COVID 19 Pandemic, with the USA in the lead. There are over 14 million cases and 281 thousand deaths in the USA alone. Vaccines have already been delivered to the UK and very soon, the USA and other countries will follow.
St. Lucia has recorded 265 cases and 2 deaths but unfortunately was ranked #3 by the USA – Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). As the number of cases continues to soar in the USA, we can only expect that the tourism numbers will decline, with the possibility of a total lockdown. Our fate is in the hands of Yahweh. Let us continue to pray while we take the advice of the experts, and adhere to the protocols of washing hands, wearing mask and maintaining social distancing.
Looking specifically to the USA, the COVID 19 numbers are frightening but President Trump does not have any sympathy for his followers, or should we say they have no sympathy for themselves. In spite of the state of the pandemic, as he headed to Georgia, he continued to insist on large crowds at his rally to trump up the Republican base to support the two Senators in their upcoming Senate re-election bid. He is in a hurry to infect as many of his supporters as he can. What a contrast, President Obama will be speaking to Democratic supporters in Georgia via electronic media. That is consideration for his fellow human beings.
Around the CARICOM States:
1. Guyana continues to be out front as the new investment destination of the region. Investors from all over the world are eyeing the abundance of opportunities. It is very clear that CARICOM nationals will be headed to Guyana in search of jobs, especially at the technical and professional levels.
2. Trans Guyana Airways reduced its flights to Barbados from five to one per week.
3. LIAT scaled back its operations and was supposed to be flying to seven destinations within the OECS and Barbados, but flights were suspended to Barbados and St. Vincent & The Grenadines while awaiting approval.
4. Four decades and counting as World Aids Day was commemorated on the 1st of December.
5. St. Lucia was issued a COVID 19 Level 3 Alert, now the highest level in the region, with a call for all non essential travel to be avoided.
6. The Joe Biden’s administration will have a Caribbean National as Deputy White House Press Secretary among the all female communications team.
7. St. Lucia was bestowed the prestigious title of World Leading Honeymoon Destination once again by World Travel Awards.
Political Update in the U.S.A.:
1. President Trump continues to hold out that the elections were rigged against him which has not been upheld by any of the courts where the elections were challenged.
2. The House of Representatives on Friday approved the Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement Act, or MORE Act, which decriminalizes cannabis and clears the way to erase nonviolent federal marijuana convictions. Friday’s vote was the first time a full chamber of Congress took up the issue of federally decriminalizing cannabis. The Senate is unlikely to approve the bill.
3. In spite the General Services Administration is now supporting the efforts of President Elect, Biden’s transition team, the Pentagon is holding back intelligence from the President Elect.
4. President Trump wants the Governor of Georgia to throw out the votes and cancel the elections.
5. President Trump is actively pursuing pre emptive pardon for himself, his lawyer, and his family.
6. President Trump continues to execute troop withdrawals in spite he is in the last stage of his presidency.
7. Concerns continue to be voiced about insufficient people of colour being named to the Biden’s Cabinet.
8. The drama continues in the final stages of President Trump’s administration.
Finding a way out of our financial dilemma:
It is amazing how, in spite of the pandemic that big businesses are pursuing their expansion programmes and new investment plans. In the meantime what are Micro, Small and Medium-size Businesses doing while waiting on funding to keep their businesses alive? However, there is a question that needs some explaining. How can businesses that cannot do business be supported? Rather it seems to me that it may be better to support the workers and stand ready to finance businesses when they are in a position to do business, just providing enough to pay rent and utilities for the next 6 months.
We should now be investing in innovation and looking into new opportunities in the ICT sector. We need to aggressively seek to answer this question – what are the emerging opportunities in the Services Sector, period? When we identify the opportunities, we need to bring together interested parties with experience in the various categories to lead the charge.
There is not enough sharing of the opportunities that have the potential to explode. Many people in spite of the current pandemic, continue to do well but will not share their experiences. The world has enough business for all of us. The most shared business is Multi-Level Marketing which is based on the principle of People helping People, and it is for this reason, we need to establish our own MLM business. This is at least one business that will be welcomed by the masses, especially at this time. On a final note, we need to expand the regional stock market with Penny Stock (under US$5.00).
Conclusion:
We are confident that with the help of Yahweh, we will build back better! In the meantime, let us continue to keep the faith, know that Yahweh is in charge and everything will be OK.
Until next week, same time, same place. This is Ed Harris signing off.
Blessings!
