INDECISION IS NOT AN OPTION!
“Each of us must confront our own fears, must come face to face with them. How we handle our fears will determine where we go with the rest of our lives. To experience adventure or to be limited by the fear of it.” – Judy Blume.
The cloud of COVID 19 Pandemic is lifting and countries are beginning to move towards some degree of normalcy. The COVID 19 protocols are being adjusted in many countries; here in our dear land St. Lucia, we are now enjoying some flexibility in our protocols, especially for those who received two shots of the vaccine. While there may be adjustments to some restrictions, it is my opinion that the onus should be on each of us to act responsibly. With respect to the protocols, let us continue to adhere to the recommendations of Washing Hands, Wearing Masks, and maintaining social distancing as necessary.
As we continue to navigate through these difficult times, my simple advice is to stay in a positive state of mind and do the best we can as we move ahead with our lives. In this fast pace world, indecision is not an option. The clock is ticking and many of us claim that time is shortened. We will like to get so much more done in the limited time we have. An answer that was given to me some years ago was that time seems to be shortened because we are packing so many activities into a single day. Many of us are busier than we have ever been, and for mot of us, that is the reality these days.
As the 21st century progresses, there are so many astounding things that are taking place that sometimes are difficult to comprehend. In recent years we have seen that LIES have become the acceptable norm and TRUTH has been queried and swept under the rug. The reality of these times is not what we are accustomed to when compared to what life was in the past.
In spite of all the negative happenings in the world, many fearless persons are going about their businesses attempting to reach new heights. Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon is headed to space. The world as we know it can no longer contain him. This is a major decision for a man with such wealth to enter into the unknown and venture into a new frontier. He will risk his life to conquer space and if all goes well, and he achieves his objective, he will be the man of the future and can only get wealthier. This new age is not for the fainthearted. Once again, we see that explorers will continue to be the most successful people in acclaim and wealth.
One thing about the super-wealthy in our world is that they are prepared to take risks. How can we cultivate the spirit of Explorers? We must be inquisitive about the unknown. Always looking to challenge ourselves to do more, to get beyond the known and receive the EXPLORERS’ BADGE. How many St. Lucians have climbed Mount Gimie? What’s next for those who have done so? Shouldn’t those who have climbed Mount Gimie be talking about climbing Mount Everest? The sky should be the limit.
Caribbean people must make the decision to be different and no longer be contented with the known and reach for the unknown. We must remove fear and get beyond our current achievements? Reach for the stars. The process has to begin with cultivating the MIND to be boundless. Get on top of FEAR, be fearless – replace inaction with action and indecision with decision. A new Mind Set is necessary. Fear is man’s worst enemy.
Indecision is not a good thing, especially when confidence is lacking. Those who seek to lead nations and take decisions that will impact the future must be resolute and decisive.
We are challenged to the point of being fearful about the future. However, we must be resilient and confident in moving forward.
Keep the Faith, expect miracles, and the will of our Creator will prevail.
Stay safe!
