St. Lucia Simply Beautiful

I will be back in the studio to record a new series of Let’s Talk Business scheduled to be aired on Wednesday 7th September, 2011 on McDowall Broadcasting Service (MBC) – Television for Everyone, formerly Health and Wellness Television (HWTV) on channels 42 LIME and 52 Karib Cable. There is another website www.litemind.com, the mission of which is simply to “explore ways to use our minds efficiently” and I quote from Luciano Passuello: “I firmly believe that our own minds are the greatest tool we have to achieve anything we want. Every event, feeling, problem or opportunity only exists through the filter of our minds. In a nutshell, your mind is the world you live in. All results you get are the direct result on how well you use it.”

The televised debate following the 2011 Budget presentation by the Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, the Honourable Christopher Sinckler, was informative and entertaining but it remains to be seen how well the implementation proposals are managed.

The road ahead is not easy for politicians as the majority of people have grown to rely on them for their survival. Self Help, Self Reliance, Self Determination, Self Worth, Self Esteem, are all words that are needed to give meaning in the lives of the people. When self worth is truly established in the minds of the people, only then will they be in a position to enter into meaningful partnership with the government.

“The myth of “taking” Barbadians’ jobs arises from segmented myopic thinking of those who are stuck in a rut or do not take the time to learn from the history of successful nations which themselves have benefitted from the immigration of human resources (at all levels) from other countries (including Barbados). This myth must be exploded.”

St. Lucia has a lot to offer to investors and vacationers. We surely have more restaurants, bars and entertainment options than any other OECS State. We should be advertising in every OECS newspaper inviting Entrepreneurs to invest and headquarter their operations in St. Lucia – An ideal location for Business and Pleasure. I love St. Lucia! I had the privilege of a meeting with Hon. Denis Kellman Minister of Industry, Small Business and Rural Development and his Permanent Secretary, Ms. Ruth Blackman, only days after they recently assumed responsibility and management for this new portfolio. This Ministry is inextricably linked to entrepreneurship and the purpose of my visit was to share the visions of BIM Ventures (Shepherding and Venture Capital), which currently is the focus of my day-to-day activity, and the BEF vision (Entrepreneurship and the entire enabling environment).

Life isn’t easy these days and it is even more difficult for persons who have to meet a payroll. It is bad news and what makes it even worse is that there seems as though there is nowhere to turn. However, that is if you continue to look down the path that has been travelled over and over and leads to nowhere. We must now explore new pathways and find our pot of gold.
