ANXIETY, UNCERTAINTY, RESTLESSNESS?

Sunday, February 6th, 2022

There was a time when the world seemed to be at peace and the little man went about his business not thinking about the cares of life. Almost living the Bible way where we are exhorted not to worry what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind (Luke 12:29). Today, it is so much different when everyone is having anxious moments, thinking about what will happen next. We are all acquainted with the phrase this too shall pass. Many of us in today’s world are tired of waiting for the passing of the storm that has besieged our nations. However, those of us who are grounded in the scriptures are confident that our best days are ahead of us.

AVERT THE DISASTER OF A LOST GENERATION

Sunday, February 6th, 2022

When planning for our children’s development it is difficult to find words that embrace our feelings more effectively than those of the worldwide hit “Greatest love of all”. “I believe the children are our future, Teach them well and let them lead the way, Show them all the beauty they possess inside, Give them a sense of pride to make it easier, Let the children’s laughter remind us how we used to be.”

DO NOT FALL PREY TO SCAMMERS!

Sunday, January 30th, 2022

Scammers will become more aggressive as the world responds to the effects of COVID 19 and its variants as the economies of nations further tighten and their leaders grapple with inflation. Greed will cause many to disregard the need to be caring and use every opportunity to exploit others. Secure what you have and only seek to explore legitimate investment opportunities. Keep away from get-rich-quick schemes. Be careful how you engage with strangers online. They can be phishing to capture your information. Do not fall prey to scammers.

WHITHER BARBADOS?

Monday, January 24th, 2022

In the Irwine Clare interview we discussed the impact of her international image at COP26 in Glasgow at which she eruditely and comprehensively analyzed the issues and made succinct proposals for addressing the funding required to address climate change. At that meeting she charged that if immediate action were not taken it would accelerate the demise of the most vulnerable states, including the Caribbean. Can this thrust not be extended to garner funds for regional development?

THE YEAR 2022 WILL BE A NAIL BITING YEAR!

Sunday, January 23rd, 2022

Staying with politics, it is Prime Minister Mia Mottley, who won the snap elections by a landslide, winning once again all 30 seats. This feat confirms the statement – you attack your opponents when they are most vulnerable. I saw it coming, even though it is said that our people don’t know what they want. The Lady is a BOSS! Her timing was perfect. Congratulations to the Barbados Labour Party!

HOW ARE YOU PREPARING TO DEPART THIS WORLD?

Saturday, January 15th, 2022

There is no better time of year for putting into motion the resolutions we set for ourselves for the ensuing year. Every year there are unfulfilled dreams which are brought forward and in some cases put on the front burner. However, one continuous issue on the top of our minds will always be WHAT WILL BE OUR LEGACY? What we will be remembered for when we depart from this world? Life is short; many of us will be gone too soon. There will always be the issue of untimely death. Where do you stand on this issue? When it comes to Believers there should be no such issue as untimely death, since the Creator is the finisher of all things.

SAY GOODBYE TO 2021 – WELCOME 2022!

Thursday, January 6th, 2022

Barbados is now blazing the trail under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Mia Mottley who did not stop at making Barbados a Republic in 2021 but has gone on to call general elections for the 19th of January, 2022 with the hope of forming the next government with a substantial majority of citizens solidly behind her. Her performance over the past three and a half years has been nothing but excellent at home and abroad. It is my firm belief that her male counterparts in the region are taking note. We can expect a series of new initiatives that are likely to transform the social and economic landscape of the territories in CARICOM as a whole and the OECS in particular.

NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS

Thursday, January 6th, 2022

In my column of October 11, 2021, I wrote: “My limited knowledge of political science posits that the Barbados Labour Party, with a massive majority in the Barbados parliament, could call a snap election now as the Democratic Labour Party is still in siesta mode, and easily get a further five-year term with a comfortable majority.”
