St. Lucia Simply Beautiful

Who would have thought that the great United States of America – the bastion of Democracy would have fallen into such dark days? The hopes of many have now become fears as President Donald J. Trump continues to create confusion even as he prepares to exit the White House. A new leader will emerge and it is clear that President-Elect – Joe Biden is doing and saying all the right things, and there seems to be an apparent silver lining.

I promise to give you my honest perspective on what is happening in the world today, especially in the areas of business and politics.

There is not much that can be said about the future but be assured that our future is in the hands of God and in the humbling of ourselves, we shall be exalted.

Conclusion:
In this season of goodwill when people everywhere join in celebrating the birth of the holy child, it is a time for giving and loving. I truly believe, it is the most wonderful time of the year.
In spite of the suffering and deprivation, we are confident that with the help of Yahweh, we will build back better! In the meantime, let us continue to keep the faith, knowing that Yahweh is in charge and everything will be alright.

Charley Pride, country music’s first Black superstar with hits including “Kiss An Angel Good Mornin'” and “Is Anybody Goin’ to San Antone,” died Saturday at 86 of complications related to Covid-19, his representatives said in a statement.

Finding a way out of our financial dilemma:
It is amazing how, in spite of the pandemic that big businesses are pursuing their expansion programmes and new investment plans. In the meantime what are Micro, Small and Medium-size Businesses doing while waiting on funding to keep their businesses alive? However, there is a question that needs some explaining. How can businesses that cannot do business be supported? Rather it seems to me that it may be better to support the workers and stand ready to finance businesses when they are in a position to do business, just providing enough to pay rent and utilities for the next 6 months.

Political Update in the U.S.A.:
President Trump continues to hold out on conceding that he has lost the elections to President-Elect Joe Biden. However, in the past week, the General Services Administration (GSA) has approved the transition funding and Officials on both sides are in dialogue. President-Elect – Joe Biden is moving ahead with the nomination of leading members to his administration. The process in relation to confirmation of certain key positions will commence after the inauguration scheduled for 20th January 2021, with hearings in the Senate. It is important to note that the COVID 19 Task Force is working and receiving the necessary information to ensure effective distribution of the vaccines when they become available.
The challenge ahead for the Joe Biden administration is daunting.

Finally, the St. Lucia Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture has come to the assistance of the business community with a Programme – Recover St. Lucia to offer advice and assistance where possible to cope with the effects of the COVID 19 pandemic on local businesses. It is interesting to note that the Prime Minister and Opposition Leader have signed on to the memorandum of understanding. This is a little late but commendable. It will all boil down to FINANCE – MONEY! I am hopeful that some new ideas will emerge to point MSMEs to a real recovery even if it means adapting new skills and enterprise models.

As of yesterday, the United States of America has become a better place and re-established itself as a land of hope for all its peoples. President-Elect Joseph Biden is the modern-day Moses, he demanded that President Trump let his people go. I can only conclude that Yahweh heeded our call and has put a hand.
What else can I say today, the world has responded and the healing has begun. To Yahweh be the glory.
